Uniform Freecycle
The first ever Uniform Freecycle held on Friday 21 April was a huge success! Thanks to the generosity of current and past parents, over 1000 items were donated to support this sustainable alternative to sending uniform items no longer needed to landfill. All items were sorted and quality checked to be made ready for being part of the stock selection at the event. In providing this service, the Parent Network were also able to deliver many loads of unsuitable donations to clothing store H&M who accepted unwanted clothing for fabric recycling.

Our customers were lining up from 9:00am and we welcomed over 200 people from over 110 families to select their five items. Over a quarter of our customers ‘came around again’ and selected more items, resulting in nearly 85% of the available stock going back into the school community circulation for a ‘second life’.

The Parent Network is thrilled to have been able to deliver a wonderful community service and feedback suggests we should make this a regular event, potentially to coincide with the change in the seasons and uniform. Ongoing discussions with the school will determine the best way forward and we will share communications as plans come together.

Again, thanks to all who donated, and our dedicated volunteer team (and their sons!) who helped make this event a huge success!
Trivia Night
Book your tickets now to the Trivia Night to be held on Saturday 17 June, 7:00pm for a 7:30pm start in the Tiverton Gymnasium:

Tickets are $20 each and this is the Parent Network’s major fundraiser for the year. With over 300 attendees last year it’s a great opportunity to socialise with other current parents / guardians and carers. This is a really fun night out! You can organise your own table or book on a table with other parents from your son’s year level.
Mother’s Day Breakfast
The much anticipated Mother’s Day Breakfast once again sold out, in a record time of 29 minutes! It was wonderful to see 500 people celebrating the special relationship with their sons, while enjoying a lovely breakfast and each other’s company.

As always, this annual event relies on the hard work of many volunteers, and we thank those members of the De La Salle College community who helped with organising, setup the day before, and on the day of the breakfast. Particular thanks to organisers Kym Gardiner and Letecya Stacey of the Parent Network for all their hard work. Thank you also to Liz Van Dort our guest speaker, Lou Harris of “Say it with Flowers” for organising the beautiful plants for table centrepieces, and Rebecca and Rick Jackson from Bakers Delight Ashburton for providing the delicious baked goods. Bec and Rick are parents at the College, and we thank them for their ongoing support of both our Mother’s and Father’s Day events.

Thank you also to the businesses who donated items for our raffle: Piccoli Photography, Willow Urban Retreat, Finesse Advanced Skin and Beauty, Ivy Brows, Harvie Bar Armadale, Fizz Kids Art Classes, Clubhouse Café Malvern, Pantry Glen Iris, Honeybee Toys, and Peter Bouchier Premium Butchers.
